Why is my water discoloured?

During transit, carbon can come loose inside the filter. Consequently, when you first flush water through the filter it may dispense discoloured water and particles. This is completely normal and harmless and we recommend flushing water through until it runs clear.

I have no flow through my IX600 single or No10 twin system?

Please ensure that the filter(s) is installed the correct way up. One end of the filter will have perforations and this is the end which goes to the bottom of the canister.

No water is flowing through my FL402 filter?

Some Brita jugs require a little plastic device to be fitted in the filter compartment, to allow water to flow through. We include this in the box of filters, it is green in colour and is usually located at the bottom of the box underneath the last row of filters. There is a picture on the box and packets showing what to look for. We include a information leaflet and an instruction booklet in all of the boxes explaining how this fits and works.

How do I remove my tube from the filter?

If you have an inline filter e.g. DA29-10105J, GS10-4PF, FFL-191X, then you will likely have a clip that is fitted around the collet. You need to remove this and then push down on the collet. This will then release the tube for you to prise it out.

Should you have an undersink system (IX600, RIX250) then there is no clip, so you only need to push down on the collet and prise the tube out.

Please ensure the water is shut off to the system or filter before removing the tubes.

I can't get my Samsung DA29-00003G or DA29-00003F filter to fit?

Samsung have made some changes to their filter design, consequently this has led to them standardising the key way. The key way is what locks into the head of the fridge and if this is even slightly different to the previous filter, you may struggle to get it to fit. We do have a set of instructions devised to alleviate this issue, which you can view here: Samsung Cartridge Fitting Problems. These instructions should also be included with the filter, either in the filter box or brown outer box.

Why has my external filter got rubber ends?

These are travel bungs, which are designed to protect the filter from damage during transit. You will need to remove these in order to fit the filter. All you need to do is remove the plastic clip, push down on the collet and gently prise the bung out (same as you do when removing the tube from the filter).

Why is my Samsung DA29-10105J leaking when installed?

These filters have an inner o-ring and this is what creates a seal around the tube. If the tube is not pushed in past the o-ring, then water will escape as there will be no seal. What we advise is to measure approximately 20mm on the tube and then push the tube into the filter by that much. You will initially feel resistance, which is caused by the o-ring, but when you push past that the seal will be created. You can always lightly lubricate the tube with silicone grease, Vaseline or similar to help when inserting the tube.

The dedicated filter tap is leaking?

Firstly, you need to establish where the leak in coming from; out of the spout or where the spout pushes into the base.

Depending on the type of tap, depends on the resolution. If you have a "touch tap" and the leak is out the end of the spout, then you will need to adjust the brass t-bar under the black lever. Here is a link to the instructions and illustration on how to sort this: Tap Adjustment Instructions .

If you have a quarter turn style tap, then you will need to access the taps barrel to stop the leaking. Please contact us for how to do this, as the advice changes depending on what handle you have e.g. lever, baseball bat, claw.

Should this not stop the leak and your tap is older than 10 years, then our advice would be to purchase a replacement. If the tap is not that old then please contact us.

If the leak is coming from where the spout pushes into the base, then dependant on the age you may need to purchase a new tap. As above, if the tap is older than 10 years then a replacement will need to be purchased.

I can’t open my housing unit?

The housing units can overtime become tight, which makes it hard to open. This is due to fluctuations in water pressure and sometimes over tightening when the filter(s) have been changed. What we would advise first, is to use a hairdryer and heat the part where the bowl and the cap meet. The heat should expand the plastic, making it easier to undo. Should this not work, then you can disconnect the filter housing and soak it in some hot water. Again, the heat should expand the plastic making it easier to open.

If the above has not worked and the housing unit is over 8 years old, then we would advise on replacing. If the unit is less than 8 years, then please contact us.

My housing unit is leaking?

Depending on the age of the unit, depends on what action is required. If the housing unit is over 8 years old, then we would advise on replacing this. Plastic can degrade overtime, which can consequently cause leaks, therefore replacing the unit as opposed to parts can usually be more cost effective.  If the housing is less than 8 years old, then you can replace the o-ring(s) that are on/in the housings.
