The RIX250 improves more than just the taste of water, however, as its five stage filtration system greatly reduces a broad spectrum of pollutants whilst leaving the useful minerals largely intact.
The five stage filtration system is comprised of the following:
Stage One - 1 micron fabric screen
Stage Two - Lower bed compacting plate with screen
Stage Three - Multi-media filter bed for chlorine, metal and hardness reduction
Stage Four - 1 micron secondary filtration screen
Stage Five - High quality 1 micron carbon block for chlorine and dissolved organic chemical removal and final polish.
The system has been thoroughly tested with all components Water Research Centre listed and BS6920 conforming. Installation is simple and maintenance of the system is easy; the cartridge only requires changing once every six months. The cartridge itself is glue-less and pulls apart meaning it can be separated into recyclable components at the end of its service life and disposed of in your weekly recycling bin.
This water filter removes up to 95% of most heavy metals, including lead, aluminium, iron, copper and cadmium, as well as removing up to 90% of dissolved organic material such as pesticides, herbicides and oil residues. Chlorine removal is excellent at up to 99%, which is why the odour and taste of the water is significantly improved.

. It is such a relief to know that all the chemicals, such as aluminum, cholorine et al are now removed, we use the filtered water for almost everything now and the taste is really good. It also reduces our carbon footprint as we no longer buy bottled water so no more plastic bottles! It also save a lot of messing with the 'Filter Jug' set up

. The only problem I had was the saddle tap fitting leaked, not from the point where the pipe was pierced, but from where the quick-fit connector screwed into the tap body. I assume that this was a faulty tap, cured problem by cutting out piece of pipe that had now been pierced, and buying a 3/4 BSP to 1/4od quickfit converter and using an existing unused dishwasher/washing m/c tap to connect supply pipe. I should add that I have used these self piercing taps before with no problems.

. The filter body looks like a better option than the filter being replaced (much more expensive), I found no problem in getting this one to seal whereas with the previous one it was always difficult to get a watertight seal when you replaced the filter cartridge.

. Arrived within 3 days or order, and took less than an hour to install. Worked perfectly straight away. The impact on the drinking water is remarkable, and it is now a pleasure, rather than a chore, to drink tea.
