Description

Nitrates are present in most tap water to some degree, mainly derived from pesticides and decaying organic matter. Nitrates, which are toxic to fish, are broken down in tropical aquariums by bacteria, which then convert them into harmless compounds.

Levels in excess of 20ppm (parts-per-million) may cause harm to your fish, and tap water can contain upto 50ppm. Therefore, in order to minimise the stress caused to the fish, many people choose to remove nitrates prior to filling or topping up their tanks. This also helps the bacteria break down the nitrates present in your tank's filter and gravel bed as the level that they have to deal with remains manageable.

Prior to purchasing this system it is recommended that you check the level of nitrates in your mains supplied water. This system is designed for people who have high nitrate levels in excess of 20ppm.

This filter is intended for tank filling only. It is not intended to be used as a circulating filter.

The replacement cartridges for this system are the NR600 cartridges which can also be found on our website

This filter system is supplied with hozelock compatible fittings, but you can select the fitting kit option which is for mains pipe work. The fitting kit will provide you with a saddle valve to pierce the copper pipe and a 10m length of tube to attach the output.

Important Note: The life of the filter is proportional to the loading of Nitrate (NO3) and Sulphate (SO4) in the source water and the volume of water used. The more Nitrate and Sulphate in the source water and the more water you use, the faster the filter will exhaust. If you require advice prior to purchasing please contact us.

Fantastic product! Keep goldfish so controlling nitrates is a big headache! Plumbed this in with the optional fitting kit and was a breeze.
.
. Set the flow at a slow 0.5l per minute and now have tap water with 0PPM nitrates!
.
. Control valve is simple and very easy to adjust for low flow. Filter very easy to mount.
.
. Again, i cant praise this product enough and delivery was fast.
. If you keep large messy fish - You need this filter!

I am big into my cichlids. I have tried everything to reduce the nitrate in my tanks, from Nirtrasafe pouches to Tetra Nitrate Minus (this hurts the wallet!). Nothing worked. Tap water nitrate reading 40 ppm. Received my filter on Tuesday, did my first water change today. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Nitrate reading 0 pmm with 2.5 l per minute flow rate, this is what water changes are all about! If there were 50 stars, I would give it that. Please buy this product, as an avid fish keeper this is the one product you MUST have.

I have an aquarium which holds 650 litres of water. The type of fish I keep are mbuna cichlids. The nitrate from the tap tested at 35ppm which though is very high is still within uk regulations set at 50ppm max. My tank at this point had steadily increased to over 45ppm
.
. I purchased the nitrate filter from Pozzani and though I was hoping for a solution, was really not that optimistic. How wrong could I have been. The method I used was as follows. I used an internal pump ( a small aquarium pump costing 6 pounds) this I used to pump the water from the tank through the filter and back into the tank. The output of the pozzani filter being at the opposite end of the small pump. The tap on the pozzani filter was turned down to give me 0.5 litres a minute flow. I measured the nitrate level coming out of the tank. Amazing, it was coming out at 5ppm. I was astounded. So, I left the tank recycling the water through the filter and checked the next morning before leaving for work. I checked the output of the filter, it was still flowing out at at 5ppm. A full 12hours and still working. So now I tested the actual aquarium water. Incredible, it was at 20ppm, down from 45ppm this was such a good result. A full 12 hours and at least 350 litres through the filter at 45ppm. So, I went to work leaving everything running.
.
. After work I returned home and checked again. The water coming out the filter was now at approximately 10ppm but on testing the aquarium water was also found to be 10ppm. 650 litres of 45ppm water down to 10ppm. Absolutely fantastic.
.
. I also had cause to contact Pozzani (with ref to the length of time a filter would last) and talked to a chap who actually knew his "stuff". Anybody who is trying to decide weather the Pozzani filter will do the job, then believe me, it filtered my 650 litres of water in under 24 hours and left me with 10ppm water. As I said to the wife. The aquarium water is better to drink than the tap water now !!

Relatively easy to install if you are a DIY'er, if not get a plumber to do it. Once installed all that is needed is to get the flow rate correct (in my case around 2.5lts/min) and let it run for around 5 minutes and test water. My tests showed Nitrate level of 5 - 10ppm. Pleased with the unit and would recommend to anyone who needs to lower the Nitrate levels.

Entirely satisfied. Dropped my nitrates from 32 ppm down to between 0 and 5. I purchased the connection kit for connecting to the mains water piping, though I decided against it in the end. Instead I used the piping from the connection kit and a few bits and pieces from a DIY supplier with one of those cheap shower hoses that connect to your taps to connect it up when I need it. (Thanks to Brigitte from http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=293903#forumpost293903 for the recommendation).
.
. I'm happy, so are my fish. What more can I say?

I bought this filter because I have an aquarium and my nitrate readings from the tap were at 40ppm in London where I live. Obviously, this isn't ideal as doing my regular water changes actually made the water more polluted rather than helping keep nitrates down!
.
. An online friend in a fish keeping forum pointed me to Pozzani water filets and on her recommendation I bought the nitrate filter and it is excellent; it took less than 20 minutes to install, required no special tools or fittings and now I have water with a nitrate reading of zero which is perfect for me and my fish!
.
. So far I have had this filter for a couple of months and draw about 20 litres a week from it so I cannot honestly say how long the cartridges will last but so far it's performed flawlessly and Im very happy with it.
.
. If you're looking for a filter or are unsure of whether this will work for you, give it a try. I wasn't sure but now I'm glad I took the chance. It's an excellent bit of kit.

I purchased this to use on my aquarium as my nitrates were too high, had 40ppm coming out of the tap. Installed this unit with the extra fitting kit fairly easily and quickly.
.
. On the first run and output, the water read 0ppm! By the second time I used it, it read 10ppm. Was not too impressed by this, and after speaking with Pozzani, I was recommended that the output should be about 2 1/2 litres a minute.
.
. So basically, the slower you let the water exit the cartridge the longer, in theory, it should last. So this is what I'm doing now, and so far so good. So remember if you get this, let the output just trickle. This obviously means I have to wait longer, but at least it will last longer.
.
. Hope this helps and good luck.
