Description

Nitrates are present in most tap water to some degree, mainly derived from pesticides and decaying organic matter. Nitrates, which are toxic to fish, are broken down in tropical aquariums by bacteria, which then convert them into harmless compounds.

Levels in excess of 20ppm (parts-per-million) may cause harm to your fish, and tap water can contain upto 50ppm. Therefore, in order to minimise the stress caused to the fish, many people choose to remove nitrates prior to filling or topping up their tanks. This also helps the bacteria break down the nitrates present in your tank's filter and gravel bed as the level that they have to deal with remains manageable.

Prior to purchasing this system it is recommended that you check the level of nitrates in your mains supplied water. This system is designed for people who have high nitrate levels in excess of 20ppm.

This filter is intended for tank filling only. It is not intended to be used as a circulating filter.

The replacement cartridges for this system are the NR600 cartridges which can also be found on our website

This filter system is supplied with hozelock compatible fittings, but you can select the fitting kit option which is for mains pipe work. The fitting kit will provide you with a saddle valve to pierce the copper pipe and a 10m length of tube to attach the output.

Important Note: The life of the filter is proportional to the loading of Nitrate (NO3) and Sulphate (SO4) in the source water and the volume of water used. The more Nitrate and Sulphate in the source water and the more water you use, the faster the filter will exhaust. If you require advice prior to purchasing please contact us.

I purchased this filter a while ago as being in London the nitrates are through the roof in tap water. I was VERY disappointed when it arrived to find really bad and unhelpful instructions with the filter. . . The instructions are very generic considering people have different plumbing systems and it looked far too technical for the average person who has never used anything like this before and knows nothing about plumbing. I searched long and hard online and on youtube for any help but there is nothing, no videos, nothing. . . I wrote a complaint to Pozzani and got a voicemail message back from their technical guy - giving me the most pathetic instructions that meant nothing to me. I then wrote another complaint and Pozzani admitted their instructions are too generic and that they can get their technical guy to call me. But I had already been down that useless route. . . All in all I am annoyed with Pozzani, what a waste of time and money. I have never seen such bad instructions in a

I recently purchased one of these filters because the level of Nitrate in my tap water was off the scale for a tropical aquarium. I am over the moon with it. The 1st test I did came out negative nitrate, all completely gone, I'm absolutely over the moon with it. I didn't want to use chemicals in the tank and doing it this way is amazing. I have a large metal bucket which I fill with water from the filter, and heat it on my gas cooker until the water temp. is 25deg, about 8-10mins, and pour it into my 200ltr tank at the rate of 25% per week. After 2 weeks the water in the thank had zero Nitrate for the 1st time. I highly recommend this product, it works brilliantly.

Good quality product - removes nitrate completely from the very high in nitrates London water. This will help reduce fish stress due to poor quality water.\r\n\r\nI purchased without the adaptor kit and saddle valve due to my wish to plumb into 22mm mains pipe. Needed a couple of attempts to get the right adaptors for the tubing to fit the filter as there is an important difference between internal and external diameter of the tubes. Adaptor kit is worthwhile it seems if you can fit the saddle valve onto standard size pipe.

Excellent product. Our tap water reads around 40ppm for Nitrate. Now using this filter prior to fish tank water changes. Nitrate is at zero!! One bonus - It fills my 45 litre can in just a few minutes (as compared with my R.O. unit where it's quicker to watch grass grow). Ordered it on a Sunday afternoon and it arrived Tuesday morning - brilliant!!

I wanted a nitrate filter for use with my fish tank. My tap water has a level of around 20ppm and the filter totally removes all of it. It's not too big so it's easy to store. I didn't get the hose kit which I later regretted as it took me a while to source hose small enough to fit the filter and also fit the outside tap.
.
. Overall, a great buy.

This is a great product and it does what it says on the tin!. I do a 75-100ltr water change on my 300ltr cichlid tank once a week and as my tap water runs at 50ppm the cartridges only last a month so have to keep replacing them at £15.00 a time! so it gets a little expensive over a year. Maybe Pozzani should look at a much bigger filter which is rechargable.
