Description

Nitrates are present in most tap water to some degree, mainly derived from pesticides and decaying organic matter. Nitrates, which are toxic to fish, are broken down in tropical aquariums by bacteria, which then convert them into harmless compounds.

Levels in excess of 20ppm (parts-per-million) may cause harm to your fish, and tap water can contain upto 50ppm. Therefore, in order to minimise the stress caused to the fish, many people choose to remove nitrates prior to filling or topping up their tanks. This also helps the bacteria break down the nitrates present in your tank's filter and gravel bed as the level that they have to deal with remains manageable.

Prior to purchasing this system it is recommended that you check the level of nitrates in your mains supplied water. This system is designed for people who have high nitrate levels in excess of 20ppm.

This filter is intended for tank filling only. It is not intended to be used as a circulating filter.

The replacement cartridges for this system are the NR600 cartridges which can also be found on our website

This filter system is supplied with hozelock compatible fittings, but you can select the fitting kit option which is for mains pipe work. The fitting kit will provide you with a saddle valve to pierce the copper pipe and a 10m length of tube to attach the output.

Important Note: The life of the filter is proportional to the loading of Nitrate (NO3) and Sulphate (SO4) in the source water and the volume of water used. The more Nitrate and Sulphate in the source water and the more water you use, the faster the filter will exhaust. If you require advice prior to purchasing please contact us.

Solved my Nitrate Problem
Recently purchased and set up a fresh water aquarium. First test showed Nitrates at 140ppm (API Master test kit). No matter how many water changes Nitrates still up to 80. Tested tap water over 80ppm. Did an internet search and thought I'd try Pozzani. First test of the filtered water brought the Nitrates down to 2,5 Tank water now down to 4,0. Well pleased and can recommend

If you have Nitrates in your tap water this is for you. Reduced Nitrates from 60 ppm to 0 ppm. What more can you ask for.

Bought for an aquarium as tap water 40ppm
Worked extremely well, took the nitrates to 0 and lowered my PH by 0.5 but only filtered 800litres before it was spent so with my water change frequency lasted 2 weeks which was quite disappointing. There’s no way I can be buying two cartridges a month so would hope there’s a product with a longer lifespan?

Absolutely amazing purchase. The tap water in my area is very poor and i only realised after doing a API Test strip test on Tap water. I actually kept thinking i do weekly water changes on my freshwater tank however the Nitrate levels seem to remain around 80ppm (some fishes are unable to tolerate). The 80ppm Nitrate levels are actually my tap result! Purchased this as there is no other easier way (unless you pay more) to reduce nitrate levels of the tank (The Filter looks like it is filled with Purigen?). Has done a great job! completely reduced the Nitrate from tap 60-80ppm to bucket of 0ppm. I just purchased the Water Hardness reduction filter too so will double them up and see how it goes. Will review once i have tested the product.

Shocked that this actually works. I started using bottled water for my two small fish tanks (40 litre and 30 litre) to get nitrates down. Thought I’d try this so I don’t have to keep buying bottled water!! First thing I’ve done is test the water with my API liquid nitrate test kit and my standard tap water comes in at 5-10ppm and the filtered water using this filter reads 0ppm.
.
. My life is going to be so much easier now I can keep using filtered tap water! Yes!
.
. Fantastic product. Does exactly what it says. It works!

My tap water sits at 48ppm on nitrate. This filter did absolute magick and water sits at 0ppm now or close to 0 as two of my test kits show 0-0.25... i was battling nitrates for the last 3 months and couldnt get any lower in the tank then 100ppm. Its fantastic product and definetly a go to. PH has changed tho but be only 0.2 so not bothered at all. Thank you Pozzani for this product.

Did reduce nitrate from 40 ppm but disappointed as it is still 10 even running it at 1L per minute. I believed it would reduce it to 0. Will try RO but will buy from a different seller as this has put me of Pozzani.

Absolutely brilliant product. Tap water was awful for my tanks and I was shocked to see how high the nitrate was. No wonder the water changes wasn't doing anything for the water quality in the tank.
.
. Took about a week of partial water changes to get to a trace nitrate level and the fish are much happier for it. Couldn't be happier :-)

Fantastic product..........cannot recommend enough. I dont normally do product reviews, bit felt i should for this gem.
. Our tap water contains in excess of 40ppm of nitrate. Water passed through this filter resulted in 0 nitrates! Amazing. I now no longer have to worry about my fish being subjected to poisonous high levels of nitrate. I can't comment on how long the filter cartridge lasts, but in my eyes, it's worth every penny. Thanks pozzani. One very happy customer.
. Be aware that the filter does lower the PH of your tap water by about 1 (this is also a good thing for me, as the PH is quite high straight from the tap) So I wouldn't recommend doing a large water change straight away, do it gradually, over a week or so, as not to shock your fish with a sudden change of PH.
. If you have high nitrate problem......what are you waiting for!?! Buy one, now!
