The FilterLogic HM600 is a dealkalisation filter designed specifically to remove heavy metals from the water supply. It fits inside a standard 10" Ametek/Pentek style housing and for drinking water applications, should last approximately 3 months under regular domestic usage.
Whilst this cartridge will remove the scum and scale associated with hard water, which is caused by calcium and magnesium ions in the water, it should always have a post-filter installed which is carbon based.
This filter is typically used for drinking water, however, it is also used by aquarium owners and other hobbyists. Please note that like with all ion-exchange filters, this filter will create a proportional pH drop depending on how 'hard' the influent water is.

. altough according to your personal on line monitor this said i had only used 50 % of the cartridge life.
. so either the cartridge is not up to scratch or you need to set your reckoner according to customer location. by the way i still am awaiting my new cartridge which i ordered 7 days ago, not impressive

. Either way it's FAB and everyone should buy one.

. The HM600 cardtridge must be used with a Carbon Base Cartridge in a second housing such as the CX600 (a replacement for the MX1) which is a taste and odour carbon based filter, which removes chlorine, organic compounds etc. It doesnt actually tell you why, but the instructions clearly tell you that, so the website could be a little bit more helpful so you can make sure you have the CX600 as well. Luckily I did already have one so it wasnt a problem. This would save a lot of confusion.

. Also because you really need to buy the HM600 and the CX600 as a pair it would be nice if they gave some discount or took any postage off to round it up to a straight £30 for both of them. Thats my suggestion and I hope they take it on board.
