IMPORTANT: The suffix P designates the addition of ion-exchange media which reduces limescale deposits in very hard water areas.
These cartridges are designed for low pH water (under pH 6.0 usually) where water needs to be raised to neutral or even alkaline conditions. Calcite media, which is added or dosed to the product water, essentially ‘re-hardens’ the supply, adding calcium back into the water.
The other main market for these products is for treating RO water. The output water quality from RO systems can be a little ‘bland’ since the mineral content in water is pretty much what gives it its flavour. Adding a remineralisation cartridge after the RO will essentially give you virtually pure water which has been dosed with clean refined calcite.
These filters should last six months in most domestic installations depending on overall water quality and usage.
