The IX250P/IX230P-UC cartridge has a 4 stage filtration system.
The suffix P designates the addition of an anti-scale stage which reduces the presence of limescale deposits in very hard water areas.
Stage 1: Ceramic filtration medium (1 micron) eliminates 99.8% of bacteria and 98% of suspended solids.
Stage 2: Carbon of high quality with special silver impregnation dramatically reduces chlorine and dissolved organic pollutants such as agro-chemicals, solvents, THM's, TCE's, PCB's, etc.
Stage 3: Ion Exchange system specific to heavy metals dramatically reduces lead, aluminium, copper, mercury, cadmium, iron, etc.
Stage 4: Block carbon ultra-efficient stage further reduces chlorine, dissolved organic matter and particulates, finally polishing the water.

. Additional benefits are that the drinking water tastes much better, whether cold or boiled, and there is no scum on hot drinks. Also, this has proven to work out much cheaper than using a filter jug.

. Another make of filter supplied with American fridge burst, fortunately when we were home. I split the pipe using a car windscreen washer fitting and now use the Pozzani filter for both.
