The IX250/IX230-UC cartridge has a 3 stage filtration system.
Stage 1:
Ceramic filtration medium (1 micron) eliminates 99.8% of bacteria and 98% of suspended solids.
Stage 2:
Carbon of high quality with special silver impregnation dramatically reduces chlorine and dissolved organic pollutants such as agro-chemicals, solvents, THM's, TCE's, PCB's, etc.
Stage 3:
Block carbon ultra-efficient stage further reduces chlorine, dissolved organic matter and particulates, finally polishing the water.

. Once every six months or so (depending on water usage) I order a replacement filter on line, which arrives promptly, and then takes me less than 3 minutes to exchange with the exhausted one. Job done for at least six months!

. We are in a soft water area so other than the chlorine that is in the water there is no real taste to it without filtering, but this filter results in almost tasteless water.
. When changing the filter the sludge on the outside speaks for itself as to the benefits of this filter, a new white filter after six months use comes out with a brown sludge that you can scrape off, so much for ‘CLEAN’ water from the water companies.
. So, would I recommend this product, a resounding YES definitely if you want to drink clean water.
