As shown below the IX600P works on a 4 stage filtration system:
Stage 1: Synthetic membrane and spun-polypropylene filters remove suspended solids such as dirt and rust.
Stage 2: Carbon of high quality with special silver impregnation dramatically reduces chlorine and dissolved organic pollutants such as agro-chemicals, solvents, THM's, TCE's, PCB's, etc.
Stage 3: Ion Exchange system specific to heavy metals dramatically reduces lead, aluminium, copper, mercury, cadmium, iron, etc.
Stage 4: Block Carbon ultra-efficient stage further reduces chlorine, dissolved organic matter and particulates, finally polishing the water.
This filter is used in both single and twin drinking systems and is designed to be changed every 6 months depending on how often it is used and the initial quality of water.

. The filter has a reasonable specification and the water does taste different, especially when the filter is new. However, without being able to test the filtered water, a lot of it is blind faith! I find it hard to tell when the filter needs changing.

. The housing is solid. The only thing to note is that unscrewing it after several months is often quite tricky (hairdryer recommended - there is a tool you can buy, but it's about £20 which seems unreasonable).

. The taste of the water has improved however, the flow rate through the filter is slower than the Blanco filter and therefore, I am a little concerned that the useful life of this filter will be considerably reduced as compared with the normal Blanco filter.
. Therefore, my overall rating has been reduced accordingly.
