As shown below the IX600P works on a 4 stage filtration system:
Stage 1: Synthetic membrane and spun-polypropylene filters remove suspended solids such as dirt and rust.
Stage 2: Carbon of high quality with special silver impregnation dramatically reduces chlorine and dissolved organic pollutants such as agro-chemicals, solvents, THM's, TCE's, PCB's, etc.
Stage 3: Ion Exchange system specific to heavy metals dramatically reduces lead, aluminium, copper, mercury, cadmium, iron, etc.
Stage 4: Block Carbon ultra-efficient stage further reduces chlorine, dissolved organic matter and particulates, finally polishing the water.
This filter is used in both single and twin drinking systems and is designed to be changed every 6 months depending on how often it is used and the initial quality of water.

. Also, probably my fault, but it took a lot of force to undo the container even though I had the proper spanner and had released the water pressure, quite a struggle really (I am 80!)

. There is no way to tell without chemical analysis that the water is safer after filtering, but there is a difference in taste before and after. To counter the latter effect, the filtered water if chilled in a bottle in the 'fridge becomes acceptably palitable. However, relying on the manufacturer's claims and the obvious specialisation and reputation of its business, I am prepared to believe that I have taken a precaution against consuming less potentially harmful water bourne elements than was previously the case without the filter.
. The six monthly replacement notification is a useful and efficient arrangement and works well.
. Initially I bought and installed the tap fitted with the plastic lever. I was suspicious about its likey durability and after twelve months use it was becoming too worn to fully open the valve. I have now fitted the far superior and satisfactory ceramic valve tap assembly.

. The water in my area here is very hard and often smells strongly of chlorine
